What documents do I need to travel to Costa Rica?
As long as your stay is shorter than 90 days, you do not need a visa or a work or student permit to visit Costa Rica. You only need a current passport. |

How safe is Costa Rica?
Costa Rica is a safe, democratic and politically stable country. It does not have an army because it does not need one. It’s known for the peaceful demeanor of its citizens and the peace that is felt in the air. It is even known as the “Switzerland of Central America.” |

About the Institute |

Can the institute arrange for transportation from the airport to my host family’s home?
We offer transportation from the airport to your host family’s home for $40 dollars (¢20.000.00 colones). It is important that you send us your flight number and arrival time so we can make arrangements in advance. |

Does the institute provides health insurance?
We recommend you to buy travel insurance. |

Is Internet access available for students at the institute?
Students can use a computer with high-speed Internet access that also has a connection to make international Internet calls. |

Can I pay with a credit card or check?
The institute accepts credit cards, dollars and, of course, colones. We do not accept any types of checks. |

What materials do I need for my classes?
The institute will provide you with a text book and worksheets, photocopies and additional materials. The only things you will need are a notebook, a pencil, a pen and possibly a Spanish dictionary. |

About the Host Families |

How do you choose the host families?
The Institute visits and interviews families during our selection process. We also work within a legal framework that establishes the families’ obligations to the students in advance. |

Can I request a nonsmoking family or one that can provide vegetarian meals?
Of course, you should inform us of these types of special requests when you send us your personal information and you confirm your arrival in the country. |

Can I stay longer than planned with my host family?
Of course, we just need you to confirm in advance how many extra days you are planning on staying so we can contact your family. |
